Perinatal Psychiatrist, Chief Executive Officer

Nichelle Haynes, DO

Nichelle Haynes, DO

I’m Dr. Nichelle Haynes, a board-certified perinatal psychiatrist passionate about helping moms thrive during pregnancy, postpartum, and all reproductive transitions. At RPC I provide specialized, evidence-based care for women and birthing individuals experiencing perinatal depression, postpartum anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, postpartum psychosis, infertility, and grief after pregnancy loss.

As a mom of two, I know firsthand how life-changing (and overwhelming!) motherhood can be. I had both of my children during residency--an experience that shaped my deep commitment to perinatal mental health. After returning to Austin, I founded an inpatient psychiatric unit devoted entirely to women’s mental health and later joined RPC to expand access to compassionate, collaborative care.

At RPC, my approach is simple: your medical choices are yours. My role is to give you accurate, up-to-date information and support you in making decisions that align with your values, your needs, and your life. I prioritize culturally competent, trauma-informed, and judgment-free care—and I firmly believe that moms deserve real help, not just reminders to “take a shower.”

Beyond the clinic, I’m a public educator and fierce advocate for maternal mental health. I reach thousands of women weekly through Instagram, my podcast More Than Mom, and free content on topics like psychiatric medications in pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and navigating guilt, identity shifts, and perfectionism in motherhood.

Looking for a reproductive psychiatrist near you? I see patients across Texas through RPC’s telepsychiatry services.

I’m proud to serve alongside the exceptional team at RPC, where I believe we have the most well-rounded, dedicated and best clinicians! We are a leading mental health clinic for women in the perinatal and reproductive space because we "get it!" If you’re looking for expert, compassionate care—we’re here for you.
