My name is Kasey and I am incredibly excited and thankful to have the chance to intern at RPC this summer.
I grew up in Austin and am currently entering my third year at the University of Virginia where I am double majoring in Youth & Social Innovation and Psychology. Within these majors I have taken a variety of courses focused on psychology, education policy, and development. At UVa, I spend a lot of my time volunteering in a local middle school, where I work with girls to facilitate conversation on mental health, body image, healthy relationships, etc. I also volunteer for a service which responds to and provides resources to those who may be experiencing mental illness, exploring their gender or sexual identity, grappling with unwanted pregnancy, or other topics which may be difficult for one to endure. For both of these programs, I participated in extensive training and preparation to engage appropriately.
I am passionate about mental health and assuring all have equal access to mental health resources and find education an essential aspect in providing those resources. At RPC, I hope to learn more about the clinical side of working in psychology and engage more with reproductive psychology in particular considering this field’s importance and impact.
